Self Test TUV CE Iron Deficiency Anemia Rapid Test Kits for Pharmacy

How Is Iron-Deficiency Anemia Diagnosed?

Iron-deficiency anemia is diagnosed by blood tests that should include a complete blood count (CBC).

Iron deficiency anaemia is caused by lack of iron, often because of blood loss or pregnancy. It's treated with iron tablets and by eating iron-rich foods.

Check if you have iron deficiency anaemia

Symptoms can include:

  • tiredness and lack of energy
  • shortness of breath
  • noticeable heartbeats (heart palpitations)
  • pale skin

Why would do a Iron Deficiency Anaemia Test?

In many people iron deficiency anaemia will develop slowly and there may be few signs of the illness. The severity of your symptoms may depend on how quickly your anaemia develops, so our home screening test for iron deficiency anaemia will help you check for the condition.

A home iron deficiency anaemia test is a blood test for anaemia that detects if you have low iron in your blood. It measures ferritin, a protein involved in the storage of iron in your body, which is the most sensitive indicator of iron deficiency anaemia.

A low blood iron level is the most common cause of anaemia, which in women is frequently caused by heavy menstrual periods. There can however be many other causes of low blood iron levels such as bleeding into the gut, a common cause in older people. Our test kit has been designed for use at home and comes with clear, step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow.

The test takes just 10 minutes. A small finger-prick blood sample is taken with a sterile lancet provided in the kit. The blood sample is then transferred to the AnaemiaScreen™ test cassette using the micropipette provided, and after the addition of six drops of buffer solution the result is shown in 10 minutes. A positive result is given if you have a low ferritin level below 20 ng/ml.

TEST PROCEDURE:

1.  Wash your hands with soap and rinse with clear warm water.
2.  Bring the pouch to room temperature before opening it. Open the foil pouch and get out the cassette .
3.  Carefully pull off and dispose the released cap of the lancet.
4.  Use the provided alcohol pad to clean the fingertip of the middle or ring finger as the puncture site.
5.  Press the lancet, on the side from where the cap was extracted; against the fingertip (it is advisable the ring finger side). The tip retracts automatically and safely after use.
6.  Keeping the hand down massage the end that was pricked to obtain a blood drop.
7.  Without squeezing the capillary dropper bulb, put it in contact with the blood. The blood migrates into the capillary dropper through the capillarity to the line indicated on the capillary dropper.
You may massage again your finger to obtain more blood if the line is not reached. As far as possible, avoid of air bubbles.
8.  Put the blood collected into the sample well of the cassette, by squeezing the dropper bulb.
9.  Wait for the blood to be totally dispensed in the well. Unscrew the cap of the buffer bottle and add 1 drop of buffer into the sample well of the cassette. 10.Wait for the colored line(s) to appear. Read results at 5 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 10 minutes.

Interpreting results

Self Test TUV CE Iron Deficiency Anemia Rapid Test Kits for Pharmacy
Normal: Two colored lines appear. Both T (Test) and C (Control) line appear. This result means that the Ferritin concentration in
blood is normal and that there is no potential iron deficiency.

Abnormal: One colored line appears. Only control line(C)appears.
This result means that the ferritin concentration in blood is too low. You should consult physician because it may be an iron deficiency.

Invalid: Control line fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for
control line failure. Review the procedure and repeat the test with a new test. If the problem persists, discontinue using the test kit
immediately and contact your local distributor.

Lower than normal results:

1. Tiredness
2. Hair loss
3. Weakness
4. Brittle Nails
